KENT — Samuel Jacob Thomas Elder, of Gainesville, Florida, appeared in court Sept. 30 on charges he raped a 14-year-old girl in a classroom at their private boarding school.
Elder, known as Jake, according to court documents, was charged with felony risk of injury to a child and felony second-degree sexual assault after a May arrest. Police said the incident took place Feb. 19 at the Marvelwood School.
He has pleaded not guilty on both charges.
Police say, Elder, 19, met with the girl in the school’s Spanish Classroom to “make out” on the evening of Feb. 19, and proceeded to have sex with the girl against her will.
Elder only stopped after the girl yelled, court documents said. After the assault, the girl ran away and told a classmate that she had been raped, then also told her parents and school officials what had happened.
Although initially held in lieu of a $100,000 bond, Elder’s bond has been lowered to $25,000, and he has since been released.
He is next due in state Superior Court in Litchfield Oct. 28.
