Gunn Memorial Library in Washington will play host to a cookie contest during the museum’s annual New Year’s Tea Party.

The party will be held Jan. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wykeham Road library.

A snow date is planned for Jan. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Entries will be judged by three professionals: Marty Rook, trained pastry chef and owner of New Preston Kitchen Goods, and acclaimed cookbook authors Ann Hodgman and Susan Purdy.

Categories are most creative, best tasting, most festive, most original, baked by children under 16 and best overall.

Those interested in participating should pre-register by calling the library or signing up at the circulation desk.

Entrants should submit three dozen cookies arranged on a disposable plate to the library at least a half-hour before the event.

Plates are to be submitted with an entry form which can be picked up at the library. Cookies should be homemade and baked by the contestant. This fun event is open to bakers of all ages.
