Susan Flynn, 61, was a master gardener
Susan D. Flynn, 61, died May 8 from ovarian cancer.
She was born Aug. 9, 1951, in Bridgeport. She grew up in Trumbull, attended St. Joseph High School, and received a bachelor's degree in political science from Southern Connecticut State University in 1973.
She had a successful business career in commercial banking with Connecticut Bank & Trust and Connecticut Community Bank.
She was an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer, active in a number of community service organizations. One of her passions was the Shippan Point Garden Club in Stamford, where she served in various leadership positions.
She loved gardening and earned a master gardener certification from the University of Connecticut program through the Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford.
She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Stamford.
She was known as a kind, compassionate and reliable friend who put the concerns of others above her own.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick C. Flynn Jr.; her children, Katherine E. Flynn and Matthew M. Flynn; her siblings, Adrienne Caruso, of Bridgewater, Michael Delvecchio III, of Killingworth, and Peter DelVecchio, of Easton; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael DelVecchio and Josephine DelVecchio.
Arrangements were made by the Bosak Funeral Home in Stamford. Interment will be private.
