The Connecticut Community Foundation, which serves Greater New Milford, is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

To recognize the milestone, the foundation is sponsoring a communitywide giving challenge, Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills.

The challenge seeks to inspire as many people as possible to support local nonprofit organizations during a 36-hour giving period via www.givelocalccf.org.

"Our goal is to shine a spotlight on the incredible work of our nonprofit organizations in New Milford and throughout our 21-town service area," said Paula Van Ness, the foundation's president and CEO.

"We hope to inspire new donors to support these organizations that collectively make our region a stronger, more vibrant place for all," she said.

Participating nonprofits in Give Local that receive donations of $10 or more via www.givelocalccf.org Nov. 12 at 7 a.m. through Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. will receive a proportionate share of matching funds and may be eligible for additional cash prizes totalling more than $75,000 from the foundation.

The foundation is seeking business partners to support the match pool prior to the Give Local challenge.

"We hope to raise additional dollars to incentivize and build excitement and momentum around Give Local," Van Ness said.

Donations to the matching pool or to sponsor a prize are tax deductible and would be prominently displayed on the Give Local website and acknowledged in traditional and social media, as well as blast emails.

The Give Local campaign is open to any nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that serves or is located in New Milford, or in any of the 20 additional towns served by the foundation.
