Gunn Memorial Library in Washington will offer a variety of summer events in the coming weeks.

Registration for the summer reading program will begin June 23.

The theme this year is “Build a Better World.”

Children will receive a book bag filled with goodies and a reading journal to record time spent reading, being read to or listening to books.

Tickets will be awarded for each hour of reading and can be used as chances to win prizes donated by local businesses and patrons.

The junior library will offer programs related to the summer reading theme Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. from July 11 through Aug. 22.

The first program, “Tall Ships and Pirate Tales” with ScienceTellers, will be held July 11 at 6:30 p.m.
