The After School Arts Program in Washington, which serves northwestern Connecticut, is accepting submissions for the 12th annual Celebration of Young Writers.

The event showcases student writing from across the state of Connecticut.

All public, private, and home-schooled children in grades K-12 are encouraged to participate.

A panel of judges will select exceptional pieces of writing through a blind process where all names and schools are removed.

This year’s celebration will be held June 3 at The Gunnery in Washington and hosted by actor Michael Lombardi, best known from the critically acclaimed hit TV show “Rescue Me” on the FX network.

Selected students will be center stage as they read their chosen pieces.

The evening will conclude with one outstanding teacher being awarded The Frank McCourt Prize for Excellence in Teaching.

The deadline for writing submissions and the award is March 31.
