Kent School student Emily Svenningsen, of Gaylordsville, has been recognized for superior academic achievement and accepted for membership by the National Society of High School Scholars.

"On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice and commitment that Emily has demonstrated to achieve this level of academic excellence," said Claes Nobel, the society's chairman and founder.

"Emily is now a member of a unique community of scholars, a community that represents our very best hope for the future."

Emily, a former student of the Devereux Glenholme School in Washington, returns to the Glenholme campus often to perform music for the students, families, staff and friends during events such as graduation and holiday concerts.
