The memory of Ryan Tlasky is secure with Rachel Talmadge, her family and friends.

Ryan died suddenly in October 2010 as the result of an epileptic seizure.

Rachel has not only not forgotten her best friend, she has for five years conducted a fundraiser to help others afflicted with epilepsy and hopefully eradicate the illness.

“I have been running this fundraiser for five years now in honor of my friend Ryan,” she said. “He had been battling with epilepsy his entire life.”

“It was a shock to us all when we found out he died,” she added. “He was my best friend and incredibly loved throughout the bowling community.”

The fifth annual “Strike Out Epilepsy” event took place recently at Lore’s Lanes in New Milford.

“This love is still evident by the outpouring of support I have received for this fundraiser,” Rachel said. “This year alone we raised over $6,600. And over the past five years, we have raised over $29,000 in his name.”

The proceeds have all been donated to the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut.

“We all work so hard to put this together in memory of someone we love,” Rachel said.
