Stewart-Gordon art on view at Marty's
Marty's Cafe in Washington is presenting an exhibit of acrylic paintings by Faith Stewart-Gordon of Bridgewater through February.
This is the fourth solo show for Ms. Stewart-Gordon since she returned to painting in 2009 after a six-decade hiatus.
Ms. Stewart-Gordon began studying with artist and teacher Banjie Nicholas, beginning classes in color pencil, then moving to acrylics.
As the former owner of The Russian Tea Room in New York City for 29 years, Ms. Stewart-Gordon built an art collection and displayed it in the restaurant.
She also launched the Russian Tea Room Cabaret, where singers and composers vied for coveted Sunday and Monday night engagements.
The artist is also an author, having written and published three books, including a cookbook and a memoir, "The Russian Tea Room, A Love Story."
The exhibit may be seen daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the 6 Green Hill Road cafe. For more information, call 860-868-1700.
