"The Steep Rock Challenge" is offered by the non-profit Steep Rock Association to those who hike the trails of the Hidden Valley, Steep Rock and Macricostas preserves in Washington.
For a donation of $36, participants will receive a map of each preserve.
Participants should mark and date each trail on their maps as they are completed.
After completion of all 36 miles of trails, challenge participants should call the Steep Rock office at 860-868-9131 and would be eligible to become an "SR 36er."
SR 36ers will each receive a Steep Rock cap.
There is no time limit. Skiing and snowboarding will be permitted but bicycling and horseback riding are not.
Each donation will be matched by a challenge grant. All proceeds will benefit trail maintenance.
To participate, send name, address and check to Steep Rock Association, P.O. Box 279, Washington Depot, CT 06794.
