Sponsors sought for Back to School campaign

The United Way of Western Connecticut is seeking sponsors for its 25th annual Back to School Clothing Drive.

The drive provides assistance for families living in New Milford, Kent, Washington, Roxbury, Sherman, Bridgewater and Warren.

“Our Back-To-School program in New Milford helps alleviate a very real financial burden for families who are struggling to make ends meet,” said Katy Francis, the organization’s community impact coordinator for Southern Litchfield County.

“Last year, we were able to provide backpacks, supplies and gift cards for new clothing for 366 New Milford students,” she said.

Sponsors will be given a specific list of items for backpacks and personal care items, toiletry items and a gift card to purchase clothing.

The approximate cost per child is $250.

Items should be dropped off at the Kimberly-Clark conference building Aug. 8 to 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items will be distributed Aug. 18.
