The John J. McCarthy Observatory will hold its next “Second Saturday Stars” program, “Space Travel: A Survival Guide,” May 13 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the observatory, located behind New Milford High.

With several nations and private visionaries investing in the infrastructure and technology for human exploration of the Moon, Mars and beyond, the program will explore the hazards of traveling beyond our planet’s protective magnetic field, including the long terms effects of space travel on the human mind and body, and offer some survival tips should you choose to embark upon such a journey.
