Thirty-one years of wedded bliss.

No, that wouldn't in this case be in reference to her beloved husband, John Potter.

Rather, for Anne Potter of Washington, the past 31 years have been memorable for the treasure trove of friends she's made as director of the New Milford Senior Center.

Her remarkable tenure closed in proper style Feb. 25 with an upbeat, festive farewell party at the Richmond Citizen Center.

On hand to help celebrate Ms. Potter's retirement and her 31 years at the helm was her husband, John, with whom she now expects to "go fishing."

They were joined for the occasion by a couple hundred appreciative patrons of the senior center, friends and town officials.

The facility's director since 1980, Ms. Potter turns the reins over to Carolyn Haglund, a New Milford resident who has been serving as the center's program director.
