Silvan Gleissner, 76, had family in New Milford

He was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Danbury, son of the late Sylvan and Christine (McStay) Gleissner.

Mr. Silvan was a lifetime resident of Danbury. He graduated from Henry Abbott Technical School.

He served in the U. S. Army, 1844 Battery B 90th Field Artillery during the Korean War and was a retired employee of the Davis & Geck Company in Danbury.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Danbury, the National Rifle Association and a former member of the Connecticut State Police Auxiliary.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Silvan J. Gleissner, Jr. of Danbury, Deborah A. Roark and her husband Al of Colorado Springs, CO., Gary M. Gleissner of Madison, John P. Gleissner and his wife Shari of New Milford, Donna M. Gleissner and her companion Francine Iacona of Carmel, N.Y., Diane Ruffino and her husband John of New Fairfield and Glen E. Gleissner and his wife Xia of Southbury; two brothers, William Gleissner and his wife Annellen of Brookfield and Ronald Gleissner and his wife Joyce of Danbury; two sisters, Marita Schulz and her husband Richard of Danbury and Christine MacMillan and her husband Donald of Brookfield; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; two step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Silvan was predeceased by a sister Jean McNally.

The Green Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
