The Silo Gallery at Hunt Hill Farm in the Northville section of New Milford will present an afternoon of poetry and prose Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.

A reception with the artist will follow.

Slated to present their works are area writers and poets Susan Tuz, Fiona de Merell, Robley Whitson, and Davyne Verstandig.

Ms. Tuz recently published a collection of poems and short stories, and is a reporter for The Greater New Milford Spectrum and The News-Times and Ms. de Merell, who will share fiction, grew up as part of an Irish-Catholic family living in England and is program coordinator for the Litchfield County Writers Project at the University of Connecticut in Torrington.

Mr. Whitson, who has written several books, spent his academic career as a cultural anthropologist specializing in the cross-cultural study of ideology, symbols and aesthetics and has concentrated on poetry and painting, and Ms. Verstandig, who has written poetry books, is a lecturer in English and Creative Writing at the UConn Torrington campus.
