Sherman Playhouse will open the season with its production of George Orwell's "1984" April 10 at 8 p.m.

Following opening night, the play will be staged Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. through May 3, as well as April 19 and May 3 at 2 p.m.

The cast features Denise James, of Roxbury; Viv Berger, of Middlebury; Maya Daley, of Danbury; Kit Colbourn, of Fishkill, N.Y.; Carly Phypers and Bruce Tredwell; of Brewster, N.Y.; Chris Marker, Noel Desiato, John Taylor and Steven Stott, of Sherman; and Alex Echevarria, Mary-Genevieve Moisan and Vicki Sosbe, of New Milford.

Kevin Sosbe, of New Milford, is the director and production designer, and Robin Frome, of New Milford, is the producer.

Denise James is costume designer, Al Chiapetta is lighting designer, David White is sound designer and Chris Marker is stage manager.

Tickets are $22 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under. Students may see any show for $11 if they pay cash and show a valid student ID card. A half-price preview night will be held April 9 at 8 p.m.
