Sherman Library will kick off its summer reading program with a family program, a children’s patio dedication and event with magician Justin Mazz, June 30 at 6:30 p.m.

The patio was made possible by a gift from Phyllis Epstein and Miriam Goldstein and will be dedicated in their memory

Epstein and Goldstein enjoyed their home in Sherman for almost 40 years, and one of their favored places was the Sherman Library.

Both were supporters in every way—they used the library regularly, attended most events and volunteered for fundraisers and other activities. Goldstein was particularly fond of working with children and for years volunteered to read to them during story hours.

The changes to the patio include a tiered sitting wall, the addition of a small sitting area, landscaping including flowering trees and new furniture.

Registration is suggested for the event at the Sherman Center library by emailing or calling 860-354-2455.
