Greater New Milford is fortunate to have a senior center in each of the seven towns served by The Spectrum -- New Milford, Washington, Sherman, Roxbury, Bridgewater and Warren.

Offerings include various game groups, meals, health screenings and blood pressure clinics, floor and line dancing classes, support groups, Zumba instruction, walking groups, computer courses, book discussion groups, cooking classes, and sewing and quilting groups.

In addition, many special programs take place throughout the year. Senior counselors and/or municipal agents are available to meet with seniors to help them navigate some of the challenges facing them as they age.

Transportation is another resource, with most of the centers offering transportation to and from doctor appointments and/or shopping locations.

Many of the centers also offer trips to various destinations, including theaters and gardens, and places like Montreal, Canada and New York City.

Spectrum photographer Deborah Rose recently visited the New Milford Senior Center to capture some of the happenings.
