A New Milford youth will star as Belle in "Beauty & the Beast" at Warner Theater in Torrington Aug. 26-27 at 7:30 p.m.

Courtney Savino, who will enter eighth grade at Schaghticoke Middle School later this month, is part of the cast in the theater's Curtain Call Kids production at the theater's Nancy Marine Studio on Main Street.

The teen first started in theater at 7 when she performed in the Nutmeg Conservatory "Nutcracker Ballet" at the

Warner, Bushnell and Palace theatres' in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Since then, she has performed in many musicals.

Most recently, she has was the narrator for "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at Blessed Sacrament Children's Theatre in Waterbury, Grace Farrell in "Annie Jr." at Theatre Works in New Milford, Susie Carmichael in "Rugrats: A Live Adventure" at the Thomaston Opera House in Thomaston, a cook in "Willy Wonka" at the Warner Theater, Miss Dorothy in "Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr." at TheatreWorks, Christine Daae in "Broadway By the Book: Phantom of the Opera" at TheatreWorks and the Sour Kangaroo in "Seussical Jr." at TheatreWorks.

Courtney also attended the Northern Region Middle School Music Festival at the Har-Bur Middle School in Burlington in 2010 and 2011.

This was by audition and the students were graded.
