SVMS to stage 'Hairspray Jr.'
Shepaug Valley Middle School in Washington will stage its production of "Hairspray Jr., The Musical" April 10 at 7 p.m.
The family-friendly show will showcase more than 40 middle school students from Bridgewater, Roxbury and Washington.
The play, to be performed at the South Street school, will feature 30 songs and dozens of dance routines.
Students have rehearsed for 10 weeks with a team of professional artists, including acting coach Leland Williams, musical director Beth Harvison, choreographer and Rockette Tiffany Billings and production assistant Ashley Billings.
"This show has so much energy -- the kids have worked so hard," Williams said. "It has been a huge undertaking, and it's coming together beautifully. It will be a very entertaining production."
A $5 donation is requested.
