Ruth Marie (Harrison) Madlener, 80, died June 16, 2010, in Boynton Beach, Fla., with her husband, Antonius "Tony" Madlener, and family at her side.

She was born in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Maria (Drentwett) Wiedemann. She attended schools in New York and graduated from Jamaica High School.

In 1953, she made her home in Danbury with her late husband of 34 years, Henry H. Harrison, and their two children, Valerie and Ronald.

Mrs. Madlener devoted her life to her husband and children.

She enjoyed hosting holiday and family gatherings in her home and took pleasure in gardening, tennis and her annual Christmas Cookie Festival, which will always be a family tradition.

As her family grew, Mrs. Madlener enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren and attending all of their activities.

Mrs. Madlener was an active principal in the family owned business, Harrison Construction Inc.

While making her residence in Danbury, she was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church.

With her second husband, Tony, Mrs. Madlener began her retirement in Florida, where she made many friends.

In their 22 years of marriage, the couple enjoyed traveling to Europe, Canada and across the country.

Mrs. Madlener's most memorable were trips to Disney World with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her homecomings in the summer and at Christmas time to Connecticut to be with her family.

In her years living in Florida, she was a sergeant for the Boynton Beach Citizen Patrol and a parishioner of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church of Delray Beach and the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.

For the last two years, she was cared for by her husband, and her Bichon, Emmy, who was always at her side.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Madelener is survived by a daughter, Valerie McGee, and her husband, Edward, of Brookfield; a son, Ronald H. Harrison, and his wife, Genevieve, of Sherman; a stepson, Jan Madlener, and Deborah, of Toronto, Canada; seven grandchildren, Edward McGee Jr., and his wife, Kristen, of Brookfield, Ryan H. McGee, and his wife, Kristin, of Newtown, Megan McGee Tembeck, and her husband, Robert, of Danbury, Heather Harrison, and her fiance, Izaak Davis, of Oxford, Kimberly Harrison, and her fiance, Jeff Woodford, of New Milford, and Jana and Kayla Madlener, of Toronto, Canada; seven great-grandchildren, Shaye, Shawn and Rylee McGee, Gavin Alden, Wesley Davis and Dylan Tembeck; many nieces; and one nephew. In addition to her first husband, she was predeceased by her a sister, Lillian P. Voller.

There are no calling hours.
