Roxbury Land Trust trail closed for repair

ROXBURY — The Orzech Family Preserve is closed for parking lot repair and new bridge preparation.

The Roxbury Land Trust anticipates the trail being closed until mid-October. Trails opposite the Shepaug River at the River Road Preserve remain open and available, as well as at the Trust’s numerous other preserves in town. Visit www.roxburylandtrust.org/preserves/ for a full list of preserves and trail maps.

RLT’s website and social media will be updated as work progresses.

The Roxbury Land Trust is in the process of updating Volunteers Bridge that connects the Orzech, Erbacher, and Golden Harvest Preserves to the River Road Preserve. The current plan calls for installing an adaptively re-used industrial pipe bridge retrofitted as a pedestrian walkway. Planking is being created by a crew of volunteers using trees fallen during Storm Isiais in 2020. Of the total $78,500 cost of the project, $22,000 remains to be raised. To donate to the Volunteers Bridge Project, please visit www.roxburylandtrust.org/donate/ and note that the donation is for the bridge project.
