The Rotary Club of New Milford, in partnership with Secure Eco Shred Inc., will hold its annual ShredFest May 1 in Lore's Plaza parking lot on Route 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A rain date of May 3 is set.

Residents and businesses are invited to bring documents such as old papers, pay stubs, receipts, bank statements, invoices, cancelled checks, tax forms, medical records and credit card statements to the parking lot for shredding by Secure Eco Shred's mobile shredder.

Staples and paper clips may be intact. There is no limit to the number of boxes of documents that may be shredded.

Assistance will be available to help unload boxes. The shredded material will go directly to recycling mills to be made into paper products.

Last year, during this annual Earth Day event, approximately 14,000 pounds of paper was collected and shredded and recycled to make new paper products. This means that seven tons of paper was kept out of the landfill and approximately 145 trees weren't cut down to make paper products.

Businesses and individuals who would like to bring 50 boxes or more are asked to pre-register.

The Rotary Club will honor businesses and individuals who bring 50 boxes or more to ShredFest at a future Rotary luncheon.
