Rollover accident in Brookfield injures 2, shuts down Rt. 7
BROOKFIELD — A two-car rollover collision on Route 7 sent six to the hospital early Saturday morning.
State police were called around 1:11 a.m. to the northbound side of Route 7 near Exit 11, where the cars had hit each other and then rolled over.
Police said two people in one car were trapped and needed to be extricated before they were treated for minor injuries and sent to the hospital for evaluation.
The other car’s four passengers were also sent to the hospital, said James Gagliardo, a spokesman for Danbury Fire Department, who assisted at the scene. Brookfield Fire Department also responded to the accident.
“Within approximately twenty minutes the patients had be transported from the scene, and all Danbury units returned to Danbury,” Gagliardo said. “The Brookfield Fire Department remained on scene to assist the Connecticut State Police-Troop A, while they investigated the accident.”
A portion of Route 7 was closed off to traffic as crews worked to clear the wreckage. Police said the road was reopened a short time later and that the cause is still being investigated.
