Robotics And Beyond gets tuition assistance
Robotics And Beyond in New Milford recently received a $2,000 donation for tuition assistance for its four week-long camp sessions this month.
Robotics And Beyond is a science, technology, engineering mathematics (STEM) and design education nonprofit that aims to help people in grades K-12.
New York-based QWASI Technology, a provider of leading-edge software technology for U.S. and international customers, made the donation after a visit to camp headquarters, according to Robotics And Beyond Executive Director Paul Chayka.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support Robotics And Beyond in its exciting mission,” said QWASI Chief Innovation Officer Lara Hanson.
“All young people should have the opportunity to explore technology and the many career opportunities that are available to them throughout the sciences. We will continue to support organizations like Robotics And Beyond for the incredible work they do,” Hanson said.
Chayka noted, “The donation was intended to cover tuition for five full-week campers, but it will actually enable eight or 10 campers to attend because we have combined it with funds from the families and local support programs.”
The connection between QWASI Technology and Robotics And Beyond came through a family relationship.
Chayka’s nephew John Barrett, assistant athletic director at Fordham University, visited the 2015 summer camp with his fiancée, Hanson, who was so impressed with the program that she offered to volunteer for the camp this summer and made the tuition assistance donation a reality.
“We are still accepting students who need financial assistance,” said Chayka.
