Roberta Watts, 71, mother of Shermanites
Mrs. Watts was born in Yonkers, N.Y., daughter of Marie (Kozakiewicz) (Kluz) Marten, who died in 1958, and Joseph Kluz, who died in 2007. She was raised by her grandparents, Stanislaw and
, who predeceased her.
She graduated from St. Casimir School
Mrs. Watts retired from Western Connecticut State University in 2001 after 14 years of service to the music and health science departments. Upon her retirement, a scholarship fund was set up in her name at the university.
She was employed part-time for the last three years at the R.P. Dalton Paving and Fuel Oil Co. in Waterbury.
Up until the time of her death, she and members of her family were volunteers at the New Milford Nursing Home, now Village Crest Center for Health and Rehabilitation, for the past 10 years.
Her hobbies included writing poetry, mostly for her grandchildren, and gardening.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Rodney Watts of Waterbury; three sons, Stephen Moravsky
The Honan Funeral Home of Newtown was in charge of arrangements.
