A 21-year-old New Milford man jailed on charges he robbed a local Subway sandwich shop at knifepoint had additional charges added recently to his criminal case, police said.
Detectives served him June 3 with a warrant for third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny while he was in state Superior Court in Bantam.
Maxwell Gilliland of Old Stagecoach Road is facing numerous charges for the New Milford robbery, as well as for a May 12 armed robbery in Bethel being presented in state Superior Court in Danbury, according to police.
Police said the day before the armed robbery in Bethel, Mr. Gilliland entered the Subway shop in Lore's Plaza on Danbury Road (Route 7) in New Milford and flashed a knife at both employees and customers before fleeing with a large amount of cash.
Mr. Gilliland was taken into custody after the Bethel heist when a police officer pulled him over for driving a gray Volkswagen Jetta identified as a getaway car, police said.
Two other people were also in the car, but police have not yet identified them or said whether they will be charged with participation in the crimes.
The details of the latest charges were not available. Mr. Gilliland is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
