Rita Raymond, 79, had been a book keeper

Rita M. Raymond, 79, of Danbury, wife of Richard Raymond, died Nov. 27, 2010, at Danbury Hospital.

Mrs. Raymond was born Oct. 12, 1931, in Brookfield, daughter of the late Louis and Mabel (Shuler) Picone.

She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1949.

Mrs. Raymond was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury, as well as the treasurer of the Catholic War Veterans' Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed bowling and was an avid shopper, especially buying things for her grandchildren.

Mrs. Raymond also took particular interest in attending and watching her grandchildren's many sporting events.

She was a bookkeeper for all of her life, most notably in the 1950s and 1960s as the bookkeeper for the town of Danbury.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, she will be missed by her son, Gary Raymond, and his wife, Mary, of Danbury; a daughter, Darlene Wallin, and her husband, Lars, of New Milford; eight grandchildren, Lauren, Gary, Kelsey, Shane, McKenna, Lars, Kylie and Nicole.

She is also survived by a brother, Joseph Picone, of Georgia; a sister, Kate Valine, of Danbury; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Raymond was predeceased by two brothers, John and Louis Picone Jr.; and four sisters, Genia Gemza, Isabel Cutler, Margaret Pace and Marion Germanetti.

The Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
