(The following is an open letter to patrons of the Sherman Library from library director Millie Loeb.)

Construction is in full swing on the new Sherman Library building.

The project includes an addition, a remodel of the current building and the restoration of the historic original library.

Work on the historic barn will include renovation of its exterior while the interior will be converted to a library program room.

Because plans to move to a temporary location at the Sherman School were unexpectedly changed, most library materials have been in storage.

The Sherman Library is locating at 1 Route 37 East in the Sherman Commons.

The library should be open early in December, pending Sherman Planning and Zoning approval in January.

In the meantime, the book and DVD drop is located at Sherman Commons near Amore Restaurant. The film series and book discussions meet at the Senior Center. Children's programs started this month at the Congregational Church.

Additional events, programs and their locations will be announced.

We have alerted area libraries of our situation and they have kindly offered to serve Sherman patrons.

The Sherman Library understands this is an inconvenience for our community. We are working hard to provide as many services as possible during this transition.

Be sure to check our website, www.shermanlibrary.org for updates.
