The eighth annual Run Santa Run 5K run, walk and kids’ fun run will be held Nov. 24 at Harrybrooke Park in New Milford.

The event (posted at harrybrookepark.org), co-hosted by Billy Buckbee and the park, will raise funds for the park and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which fights for a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

Participants, sponsors and volunteers are sought for the event based on the theme “The Eighth Wonder of the World,” celebrating Andre the Giant, and a pro-wrestling or Christmas theme.

The kids’ fun run will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 10 a.m. at the park off Still River Drive.

Buckbee started the event in 2011 in response to his personal illness.

Buckbee was diagnosed with pancreatitis and Type 2 Diabetes.

There is no charge for the kids’ run but children are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to Toys for Tots. Children will receive a book of choice, provided by Scholastic.

Registration is $25 online. The first 300 registrants online will receive T-shirts. Registration the day of the event is $30.
