The Kent Quilters will present a log cabin quilt to the Kent Memorial Library at a reception Saturday, May 2, at 3 p.m. at the Main Street library.

The quilt, "Hearth," will be raffled off, with proceeds to support the mission to bring the digital age to the library.

Materials for the project were donations from the group's private fabric collections; whatever else was needed was made from quilters' donations.

Raffle tickets are $1 and may be purchased at the library during regular hours, at the book sale on weekends, or by contacting the library.

The drawing will be Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. at the library.

The quilters group began meeting in September to discuss a project to raise money for the library and it was decided to make a quilt.

The quilt is made possible by many hours of free-hand quilting by Karen Eckmeier, demonstrations by Veralyn Davee, examples from the Kent Historical Society and Marge Smith, the guidance of Doris Palmer, whose original quilt group produced a quilt to raise money many years ago, and the regular participation of about 25 members of the community.
