The Jewish Community Center in Sherman will offer two special programs, a dance party for all ages with The Funk Express Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. and “Celebrating 300 Years of Connecticut’s Remarkable Women,” Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.

The dance party will feature an all-star cast headlined by Sherman School's Steven Trinchillo and Chris Carlone and professional musicians from New York City to Stamford.

An open jam portion will be offered during the second set so anyone who wants to come up on stage and play the blues with the band will be welcomed.

Tickets are $12 by cash/check and $12.50 online and by credit card at the door. Reservations are required by emailing info@jccinsherman.org by Oct. 3.

An interactive multi-media program with Liz Krebs of the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame will be held Oct. 13.

Information about well-known figures like Ella Grasso, Katharine Hepburn and Marian Anderson and lesser-known heroines like Maria Sanchez, Barbara McClintock and Hannah Watson will be discussed.

The presentation will introduce attendees to the hall of fame, its mission and programs, and give a panoramic view of some of its 121 Inductees from across all fields of endeavor, from politics and sports to the arts and sciences.

Reservations are needed by Oct. 11 by emailing info@jccinsherman.org.
