"Human Love," a special evening of art, music, dance and more to benefit Ann's Place in Danbury, will be held Oct. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. in New Milford.

The evening, to be held at FineLine Theatre Arts on Railroad Street, will feature a cocktail reception, a silent auction, dance performances by Artists in Motion dancers, vocal performances by FineLine students and music by the jazz duo of Chris Vitarello and Company.

Ann's Place is a community-based cancer support center for men, women and children.

Valerie Walsh of New Milford learned of Ann's Place after being diagnosed with Lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) in November 2013.

LCIS is a condition in which abnormal cells form in the breasts and those with LCIS have an increased risk of developing an invasive breast cancer.

"I made the proactive decision that was best for me and had a bi-lateral mastectomy with reconstruction," Walsh said.

"All of my care and after care was done at Danbury Hospital where the patient services of Ann's Place were offered to me," Walsh related, adding she organized the fundraiser as a way to give back to the center that helped her.

Tickets are $40.

Walsh said she hopes to raise a minimum of $4,000, which will allow 40 people to receive $100 worth of services at Ann's Place.

Walsh said she chose the number 40 because that was her age at diagnosis "and my goal is to pay my good fortune forward to at least 40 people," she said.
