The Kent Art Association will open its president’s show July 2 with an awards reception from 2 to 4 p.m.

The open, juried show will run through Aug. 4.

Selected judges for the show are Michael Dillard Spross, a visual arts teacher of 28 years at Millbrook High School in Millbrook, N.Y., and a painter; Linda M. Nemergut, an instructor and botanical illustrator who received a post graduate certificate in Botanical Illustration from the New York Botanical Gardens in 2012 and is involved in after-school art enrichment programs in the community; and well-known painter Bob Crofut, who has appeared in such magazines as National Geographic, Time, Smithsonian, Reader’s Digest, American Heritage, and Yankee.

In other news, the KAA has announced the selected artists for the 2016 elected artists’ invitational and solo show.

The elected artists are Carl Chaiet, Doreen O’Connor, Carol T. Moore, B.A. Wygant, Karl J. Volk and Sally Franklin, and Patricia Billeci won the Medal of Merit award, earning her the Solo Show for 2017.

The gallery at 21 South Main St. is open Thursdays through Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m., as well as Monday holidays, when applicable.
