To the Editor:
On behalf of the New Milford River Trail Association, we would like to thank the New Milford Economical Development Commission, the New Milford Recreation Association, an anonymous donor, GeronNursing & Respite Care and Ayden Gold for their generous support.
With their help, we were able to obtain the funding necessary to begin Phase I of a feasibility study to determine how to best extend the current riverside greenway bicycle/pedestrian trail (known as the New Milford River Trail), that currently exists from Gaylordsville to Sega Meadows Park, to the downtown New Milford area.
It is our hope to continue the feasibility study with a Phase II next year to determine the best way to extend the trail from the downtown New Milford area to Brookfield to join Brookfield's bicycle/pedestrian trail.
This is all part of the Western New England Greenway -- a multi-state, multi-segmented series of safe bicycle/pedestrian trails from Montreal, Canada to New York City, running through New Milford.
