To the Editor:

I am writing to thank everyone who helped make the Sept. 15 community benefit for the Fratino and Wilkinson families a huge success at Phys-Ed Health and Performance.

For a donation, members and non-members could participate in one of our special classes, purchase raffle tickets, hot dogs, Friendly's Ice Cream or just stop by to sign one of the "Banners of Love" given to each family.

i95 Rock and Roll volunteered their time to broadcast live as well.

I would like to recognize the efforts of our staff, who all volunteered their time and talents to direct the classes offered and stayed throughout the day to help run the event as well.

Along with our staff, many members from the community offered their time and energy to help out in any way they could.

And help they did. Without their efforts, none of this would have been possible. The support from our staff was overwhelming. I thank you all for your participation.

I would also like to thank all of the businesses from our community and surrounding communities for donating items for the raffle. We had close to 50 items donated. Your generosity is truly appreciated.

It's only with committed volunteers and generosities that events like these are a success.

Together, we were able to raise nearly $7,000 to be split between the families to alleviate some of the financial burden they are facing.

Most important, it's times like this that bring a community together to share its sense of spirit and pride for the greatest town in New England and the families who live in it.
