A Roxbury man is being held on $75,000 bond after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend in the chest with a solar light Friday night outside her home on Paper Mill Road in New Milford, local police said.

Seth Miller, 36, of Hemlock Road in Roxbury, was arrested Sunday night and charged with first-degree assault, unlawful restraint in the first degree and second-degree strangulation.

According to New Milford police, the incident began inside the victim's home and spilled outside, where Mr. Miller allegedly pulled a decorative solar light out of the ground and stabbed the victim with it.

Mr. Miller was arraigned Monday at state Superior Court in Bantam. The court reduced his bond from $500,000 and issued a protective order against him.

The victim in the case was treated and released Friday night at New Milford Hospital, police said.

Mr. Miller's next court appearance is scheduled Dec. 20 at state Superior Court in Litchfield.
