A program of poetry reading, “Poetry in the Gallery,” with Dr. James Scrimgeour will be held Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at Gallery 25 and Creative Arts Studio in New Milford.

The program at the gallery, located in the railroad station on Railroad Street, will include poems inspired by paintings created by local artists and on display at the gallery, and poems that represent his interests, including his family, the relationship between the landscape and the consciousness, and poems from his soon-to-be published book “Voices of Dogtown.”

Scrimgeour, professor emeritus at Western Connecticut State University and New Milford Poet Laureate, has published nine books of poetry and more than 200 poems in anthologies and periodicals.

Scrimgeour has participated in NEH poetry seminars at NYU and Princeton, has served as editor of “Connecticut Review,” and is one of five poets featured on the CBS-Connecticut Poetry Blog.

He conducts poetry programs in libraries in New Milford and Rockport, Maine, where he and his wife, Christine Zanthakos Scrimgeour, spend much of their time.

The program is sponsored by the New Milford Commission on the Arts.
