Pending prior possible postonements, playoffs in New Milford Parks & Recreation men's and women's slowpitch softball leagues will kick off next Thursday, Aug. 4.

If Mother Nature turns out to be cooperative, champions could be crowned in the women's nine-team league and in each of the men's five divisions by mid-August.

Through games of July 22, the men's division leaders were the Chemero Group (10-6) in `A,' the New Milford Sports Club (12-4) in `B,' Hometown Liquors (12-4) in `C,' Advanced Construction (13-3) in `D' and R.R.R. Maintenance (16-0) in `E.'

Connecticut Orthopedic was the frontrunner in women's competition with its 15-2 ledger.
