Davis IGA and the Kent Energy and Environmental Task Force will conduct its second plastic bag-free initiative in Kent from April 19 to 26.
Complimentary shopping totes will be given to customers and in-store promotions and paper packaging options for vegetables, fruit and deli items will be offered during Earth Day week at the grocery store on Kent Green Boulevard.
"We are excited
to continue the initiative from January, when we distributed 1,650 bags to our customers," said Gary Davis, president of Davis IGA.
The tote bags are 100 percent certified biodegradable, petroleum free and are machine washable.
"During the week, 7th Generation products will be featured in the store and four-inch pansies will be given to customers who use their rewards cards with a minimum purchase of $10," Davis said.
In addition, children accompanied by an adult will receive small tomato plants to grow and harvest.
