Peter A. Bartholomew, 53, of Danbury, died unexpectedly Feb. 3, 2010, at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Judith (Sannino) Bartholomew.

Mr. Bartholomew was born in Austin, Minn., son of Robert Bartholomew of Austin and the late Elizabeth (Malloy) Bartholomew.

He graduated from high school in Austin and received a bachelor's degree from Western Connecticut State University and a master's degree in education from the University of Bridgeport.

Mr. Bartholomew was a sixth-grade teacher at St. Peter-Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Danbury.

Mr. Bartholomew had served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of the American Softball Association and the Richter Park Men's Golf Club.

In addition to his wife and father, Mr. Bartholomew is survived by five children, Karen Comiskey, of Pawling, N.Y., Robert Bartholomew, and his wife, Cheryl, of Brookfield, Heather Buonanno, and her husband, Phil, of New Milford, Kristen Bartholomew, of New Milford, and Justin Bartholomew of Danbury; two stepchildren, Meagan and Emma Kendrick of Danbury; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Comiskey; and four brothers, Bernard, William, Steven and Joseph Bartholomew; and two sisters, Virginia Westfall and Frances Hennen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Peter A. Bartholomew Memorial Scholarship Fund of St. Peter-Sacred Heart of Jesus School, 98 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.

The Green Funeral Home in Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
