The New Preston Congregational Church will host its biggest fundraiser, the ninth annual Paint the Town, Aug. 31.

Artists will arrive at church at 9 a.m. for breakfast and receive a box lunch before spending the day painting en plein air at a location of their choice in the area.

The event is rain or shine.

Zufar Bikbou, Harriet Carew, Karen Cashman, Deborah Chabrian, Ed Martinez and Lynn Wellings are among the artists to participate.

Artists will return to the church at 3 p.m.

The public is invited to meet the artists, view the art, enjoy hors d'oeuvres by chef Doug Williams and music by local musician Dave King at 4 p.m.

At 5 p.m., there will be a live auction of art.

Following the live auction, additional paintings by participating artists will be featured in a silent auction.

A silent auction of artists' studio paintings will also be exhibited.

Credit cards will be accepted.

One-half of the proceeds from each piece of artwork is retained by the Artist; the remaining proceeds will be used to support the church, and a portion is also donated to a local nonprofit organization. This year's recipient will be the Washington Volunteer Fire Department.
