Page-to-Screen open to youth
Gunn Memorial Library in Washington will hold its second installment of the young adult Page-to-Screen comparison series Nov. 16 at 2:45 p.m.
Students in sixth grade and up are welcome to take the bus after school to watch “The Darkest Minds,” the film adaptation of Alexandra Bracken’s YA novel of the same title.
The story follows the life of 16-year old Ruby, who survived a mysterious disease when she was young that killed almost all American children and gained certain abilities she cannot control.
Ruby escapes the government issued “rehabilitation” camp she was sent to and meets a colorful cast of characters as they search for a safe haven for kids like Ruby
The group faces a series of challenges and tough decisions that, for Ruby, may mean giving up the chance at having the life she has always dreamt of.
This movie is rated PG-13 and runs for 1 hour and 44 minutes. Popcorn will be provided during the movie. If students have not read the book yet, copies are available at the library.
