Oscar A. Tompkins, 79, of Washington, died June 4 in Litchfield.

He was born Oct. 21, 1933, in Washington, son of the late Dudley and Catherine (Kaiser) Tompkins.

He served with the United States Army and returned home to Washington, where he lived and worked as a painter for Gustafson Painters since 1950.

He loved to travel and to fish, and he loved sports and the New York Yankees.

He is survived by his brothers, Warren and Franklin Tompkins, both of Washington, and Richard Tompkins, of West Morris.

A graveside service will take place Friday, June 7, at 10 a.m. at Milton Cemetery in Litchfield.
