STRATFORD — A series of small, controlled burns are planned for the Great Meadows Marsh in the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge next week, according to officials.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said from Oct. 4 through Oct. 8, a team of trained wildland firefighters from the agency’s Northeast Regional Fire Program will conduct the burns. The dates are subject to change due to weather conditions, tides and conditions. Smoke may be visible from the west side of the marsh, officials said.
