Offering a helping hand
Washington Antique Show proves worthy fundraiser for Gunn Memorial Library & Museum
The Gunn Memorial Library & Museum has some pretty helpful friends.
The venerable library/museum complex on Green Hill in Washington received a financial boost recently as the beneficiaries of proceeds from the 27th annual Washington Connecticut Antiques Show.
The show was offered Oct. 4-6 at Washington Primary School.
Festivities kicked off Oct. 4 with a preview night cocktail party, featuring cellist Mary Costanza.
A collector's party, featuring the music of the Kerry Linder Brazilian Jazz Trio, was held Oct. 5 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The show was open to the public Oct. 5 and Oct. 6.
The museum's current exhibit, "Coming to America: Washington's Swedish Immigrants," opened concurrently Oct. 5-6 at the Wykeham Road site, and Rhonda Eleish and Edie van Breems, noted Scandinavian style experts, presented a lecture, "The Elements of Swedish Style," and signed copies of their book, "Reflections on Swedish Interiors" Oct. 6 at the library.
