The next Second Saturday Stars program will be held Nov. 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the John J. McCarthy Observatory in New Milford.

Galileo's Garden and Sundial will be the focus of the event to be held at the observatory behind New Milford High School on Route 7 South.

Observatory volunteers are building a large outdoor activity center, Galileo's Garden, to host visitors of all ages for special programs.

When done, it will house a nine-foot equatorial sundial with a true-scale bronze replica of Galileo's first telescope.

It will also feature the observatory's six-foot sun, the "1,000 Suns for New Milford" sunflower gardens, six large granite benches, granite "celestial sculptures" and many garden plantings.
