Nobuko Gleason, 84, was a Kent resident

Nobuko (Nakano) Gleason, 84, a longtime resident of Kent, died May 17, at Sharon Hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Gleason was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Saitama-Ken, Japan, the daughter of the late Saisaku and Sen (Kurosawa) Nakano.
She devoted her life to her family and was a member of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church in Kent.
Although a diabetic herself, she took joy in providing sweet treats to her friends and family.
Mrs. Gleason delighted in spending time with her many grandchildren and took pleasure in sewing and knitting items to give as gifts.
Mrs. Gleason is survived by six children, JoAnn Whitmore, and her husband, Kenny; Susie Purcell, and her husband, Bill; and Cheryl Gleason, all of Kent, Debbie Pool, and her husband, Rick, of Orlando, Fla.; Donny Gleason, of Kent; and John Gleason, and his wife, Gerri, of Kent; 11 grandchildren, Todd, Ryan, and Elissa Whitmore, Billy and Christina Purcell, Riley and Hunter Pool, and Jenna, John, Katie and Hanna Gleason.
The Kenny Funeral Home of Sharon was in charge of arrangements.
A private graveside service was held May 21.
