Former bookkeeper of construction firm charged with embezzlement

The former bookkeeper of a New Milford construction company was arrested Feb. 3 on a warrant charging her with embezzlement.

Mandy LaBella, 35, of Prospect Hill Road, was charged with second-degree larceny for allegedly embezzling some $33,000 from her former employer, B & R Construction on Route 7. The alleged embezzlement occurred between June 2007 and December 2008, police said.

Police said Ms. LaBella is accused of using company funds to pay for personal expenses. She is scheduled to appear Tuesday, Feb. 16 in state Superior Court in Bantam.
