United Way of Western Connecticut, which has an office in New Milford, has added new faces to its leadership.

"We are thrilled with our new class of board members," said James Schmotter, president of Western Connecticut State University and board chairman of United Way of Western Connecticut.

"This group joins a remarkable group of current board members who serve our organization with distinction," he added.

The new members of the board of directors are Martin Anderson, senior vice president of Webster Bank; Dr. Raul Arguello, chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Danbury Hospital, part of the Western Connecticut Health Network; Cheryl Bakewell, partner of Bakewell Mulhare LLC in New Milford; Kurosh L. Marjiani, partner at Wofsey, Rosen, Kweskin & Kuriansky LLC in Stamford; Cynthia C. Merkle, president and chief operating officer of Union Savings Bank; Susan M. Neumann, vice president of corporate communications and public relations at Praxair; and Rick Tanner, chief marketing officer of Nestle Waters North America.

"Our focus areas at United Way are education, income and health," said Schmotter, "and each of our new board members brings expertise on one or all of these priorities."
